CAMIGUIN Island – Day 1

Jas is back again in Davao for a short vacation and as usual when he’s here, we try to plan to go on short trips to enjoy and spend time together. Since it is August which is also our anniversary month, we decided to go to Camiguin Island which had been always on our travel list.

Camiguin island is so called Island born of fire because of its land formed due to volcanic activities. Most of the places you will get to see there are the places that survived the volcanic eruptions (this is based on my research).

At first, we decided to just commute going there to challenge ourselves as backpackers but as we calculated our tentative expenses, it will really take a lot of money. So we resorted into joining travel and tours. We joined the agency of Explore Adventure Travel and Tours which is a legit agency (searched it on facebook) for only P2,899 for a 2 days and 1 night trip to Camiguin. Their travel is scheduled every weekends but you can also deal with them for an exclusive tour. Meeting place is at Mcdonalds Bajada parking lot.

So since it was only Jas and I, we were mixed with the other group which we easily made friends with. Left Davao City around 10.30pm for a very long trip and arrived at Balingoan Port at 6am. We had our breakfast at some carenderias there before our 1 hour ferry boat ride. Good thing both of us doesn’t have sea sickness so chox ra ang balod! 🙂

It was a long travel day but it was worth the fun. Meeting new people and having the chance to see the beautiful places Camiguin Island offer to their tourists is the best.
