Tinuy-an Falls is the last destination of our Surigao del Sur tour. I’ve been looking forward since then to go to this place because as what many people said, the falls is fascinating. If you will take advantage of Surigao del Sur tour, Tinuy-an falls is included in the itinerary. It is the last place of our second day tour in Surigao.
The name Tinuy-an comes from the word Tinuyo-an, a native vernacular which means “intentional act or performance to attain an objective or goal”. It can also be transliterated into the Filipino context as Babalik-balikan (“a place you’ll keep going back to”) -Wikipedia.
The Tinuy-an falls are 95 m wide and 55 metres (180 ft) high, touted as the little Niagara Falls of the Philippines (wikipedia)
The falls looked so beautiful and really inviting. The water current is not as strong as I expected but still very nice. We we’re guided by the local guides in the falls that we can go up and experience the upper tiers of the falls. Going up there was a bit of a challenge Whew!
Beeing able to go here is another bucket list checked. Surigao indeed a place to enjoy especially for a summer get away.
Here are more photos of our Tinuy-an falls experience.
